Please be aware that MiWi5.x for MRF24J40 and MRF89XA is not supported by Microchip any more.

The slow response time issue may be caused by the combination of stack and radio. MRF MiWi is not a highly optimized solution so you may need to spend some time tuning firmware to get best performance.

We do recommend to move to SAMR21 or SAMR30 with MiWi 6.0 stack. It is supported and optimized better. I am very sure that the response time is much better.

RN4871 and RN4870 shares the same firmware. The firmware should be able to read the ID in in IC to differentiate RN4870 and RN4871,

Maybe the information block in your IC is damaged. Could you help share your PCB design and Schematics? I would like to check the power supply circuit of RN4871U. If the power circuit is not handled properly, information block could be damaged.

1. WINC3400 is supported by latest Harmony 3 Configurator in MPLAB X IDE. SAME54 is also supported.
2. To use WINC3400 with SAME54, you need to connect SPI in between. You don't need ECC, EEPROM or SPI flash, they are optional. You will use them only if your application requires them.
3. WINC3400 is loaded with latest firmware when the module is manufactured. However, Microchip could release firmware update to address new IOP issues or new feature requests. It is recommended to reserve I2C interface for firmware programming and Bluetooth UART interface for certification test.
