想請教關於RS485應用

小弟不才想請問關於RS485的應用,因為I2C通訊距離較短,所以我想做PC對多個PIC的通訊控制,因沒有玩過RS458所以請各位給予指導,我是否應該先買一個RS232 to RS485 convert給主端用以及多個RS485 to RS232給僕端用呢?如此就變成是RS232對RS232的通訊卻保有RS485的優點?
另外想請問,寫程式是否在僕端設定每個PIC的ID,主端則依據各ID來發送命令及控制? 謝謝!!!
